What are the positive aspects of stereotypes, if any? It is my personal conviction that stereotypes have absolutely no positive aspects. This sort of thinking only leads to deeper struggles and inequality within societies. It is absolutely vital for a deeper level of understanding to be reached by people of differing race and ethnicity in order for the possibility of a peaceful world to exist. What are the negative aspects of stereotypes? There are many negative aspects of stereotypes. One of the main consequences is the lack of unity within a society or population. If different groups are at war with each other within a society their chances of becoming a true world power are miniscule. Also stereotyping generally leads to violence and pain for everyone involved because of the conflict that it arouses. Part III Answer each question in 50 to 150 words related to those stereotypes. Provide citations for all the sources you use. Define stereotypes and prejudice. What is the difference between stereotyping and prejudice? Use examples to illustrate the differences. The text defines stereotypes as: unreliable, exaggerated, generalizations about all members of a group that do not take individual differences into account. Prejudice is defined as: a negative attitude toward an entire category of people, such as a racial or ethnic minority . The difference between these two concepts is that stereotypes are false beliefs about an entire group of people that perpetuate fear and misunderstanding, like: all black people are thugs. Whereas prejudice is a negative feeling towards an entire group based on the fact that they are different. An example of this is the prejudice against hiring blacks to do a certain job because one feels they mentally inferior because they are a different race.(Schaefer 2012). What is the relationship between stereotyping and prejudice? The relationship between stereotyping and prejudice is basically one of escalation. The connection between the two usually occurs in the form that stereotyping leads to prejudice. This often occurs because stereotypes create a sense of uncertainty and distrust between groups and prejudice is a more refined and focused form of intolerance that often leads to discrimination and hate. What can be done to prevent prejudice from occurring? The biggest thing that can be done to prevent prejudice is to educate people about other races and ethnicities, and to work towards establishing a better degree of understanding and unity between different groups of people. It is also necessary to single out those who are acting in a prejudiced manner and show that this type of sentiment will not be tolerated. The Christian Perspective on Stem Cell Research      Ã‚   Many Americans do not see how the existing state laws forbidding human cloning can survive, and others like them be enacted, since the federal government has given its blessing to the cloning and destruction of human embryos for research purposes. An entire area of law where states have been able to express respect for human life may be wiped away.    We know that many have made expansive claims for the benefits of human embryo research. However, all such claims are conjectural. Embryonic stem cell research has not helped a single human patient or demonstrated any therapeutic benefit. At the same time, adult stem cells have helped hundreds of thousands of patients and new clinical uses expand almost weekly. Even President Clinton's National Bioethics Advisory Commission, recognizing the human embryo as "a developing form of human life," concluded that the use of embryos from fertility clinics for such research cannot be justified if morally noncontroversial alternatives exist. There is now ample evidence that they do exist, are far more promising than once thought, and are worthy of increased public attention and government support.    Most Christians have grave concerns on this critically important issue of embryonic stem cell research. In our view, conducting research that relies on deliberate destruction of human embryos for their stem cells is illegal, immoral and unnecessary.    It is illegal because it violates an appropriations rider (the Dickey amendment) passed every year since 1995 by Congress. * Nonconsequentialist-not based on  or concerned with consequences. * Jean Valjean embezzles some bread. He did not predict the consequences of embezzling and not embezzling. * Jean Valjean tried to escape from prison and wasn't concern about what could happen. * Jean Valjean embezzle some silverware from the Bishop. After the Bishop took him in. * Fantine lies about her illegitimate child to get a job at the factory. Once they fought out she got fired. * Fantine joined a group of whores in selling herself. She did not think of the consequences of her action. Even though she was doing it to support her illegitimate child. * Consequentialisms * Valjean was unable to see an innocent man go to prison in his place. He confesses to the court that he is the right prisoner. * Free will and determinism * Javert was determining to put Jean Valjean in jail. * Jean Valjean was determining to help others who might face the same situation, or any difficulty. * Javert is determined to do what is regarded as ethical. To prove himself worthy, and to compensate for what he as his parents unethical doings. Javert His unwillingness to change or recognize another way of looking at things. * He has total faith in the system of rules he represent, and by extension, total faith in himself. * He lives by society's rule and principles. * Indeed to show tolerance and understanding might even be considered a weakness when applying to the law. * He doesn’t have the tolerance or forgiveness to accept his own mistakes and move on. He sees that he may have been mistaken in his judgment of Valjean. * He felt it was a  simple decision- dog eat dog, hunt or be hunted. He never wasted a moment on making the right ethical decision. Something was either ethical or unethical the law does not take motive into consideration. * He did not care about anybody, but what the law says. Jean Valjean * He doubts and questions himself at virtually every turn. * His strength of will is derived from the fact that he feels he has seen his own black side. * He knows what he is capable of, given the right circumstances, and because he has seen an alternative, he is determining to avoid any repetition of his black side. * He discovers the importance and value of love through his meeting with the Bishop and his relationship with Cossette. Love by extension, respect and tolerance. * He turned into a caring person. * He helped as much as he could. * Once he fount out about Fantine situation, he felt bad about firing her from the factory. He helped her and promised to take in her daughter. * He took in Cossette and loved her like she was his own. * He feed the poor people. * His willingness to do right by the people. He became a diff erent person after interacting with the Bishop. I just got to pick to characters and talk about their interactions with one another such as Jean Val jean and Fantine.

It is commonly recognized as having been initiated with the women’s involvement in helping black slaves achieve freedom from slavery and overall citizenship rights. Little did these women know that the soon to be instituted 15th amendment would constitutionally enfranchise men of every race and ethnicity, but still exclude them. For those women who had been actively involved in helping the Negroes gain a sympathetic voice, this neglect to acknowledge women in the amendment was nothing less than a heinous outrage.
